Local Ink.
A Platform Built for Local Newsrooms
Local Ink brings together proven e-edition technology, subscription management, and analytics in one secure, easy-to-use platform without the costs and complexity of enterprise systems not built for community media.
· Digital editions optimized for web and mobile
· Subscription and access control built for publishers
· Robust analytics by geography and engagement
Publishers get tools designed for real newsroom needs with reporting and data that support audience and advertiser confidence.
Protect Revenue and Grow Readership
Local Ink helps publishers maintain control of reader relationships and subscription revenue while offering new pathways to reach audiences online.
· Keep subscribers engaged through a familiar, brand-centric reading experience
· Understand audience behaviour with reader insights and postal-code metrics
· Support advertisers with credible, publisher-driven analytics
These capabilities help strengthen your platform before handing any data or audience control to third-party marketplaces.
Canadian-Centric, Secure, and Collaborative
Local Ink is developed with Canadian publishers in Canada and hosted on secure infrastructure; ensuring data privacy and compliance with local standards. The initiative brings together industry partners and publishers in a collaborative model that prioritizes community journalism.
In early 2026, AdWest Canada and News Media Canada are recruiting up to 150 community newspapers to be onboarded with Local Ink for the initial national rollout. This early cohort will shape future enhancements, receive priority support, and benefit from shared learnings as the platform scales.
Why this matters:
As the platform transitions to full launch, this limited onboarding phase is designed to ensure stability, refine workflows, and maximize value for participating publishers without compromising quality or performance.
